On Rip Currents- Slowly Drifting

one thing i can (mostly) say in terms of things that i am not overly fearful of, would be the ocean.

many (and i mean most) people i know, including native southern floridian's such as myself, are afraid of the salty vastness; sharks, jelly's, ray's, sea lice, and not to mention, tidal waves.

but for some reason, i am not.

funny thing about rip currents- you're better off giving in to its' pull and letting go, letting it take you out to sea, than resisting and fighting your way out. you know why? because you will never win. you will never, ever be stronger than the pull of this beautifully, deadly blue water.

interesting that life works in a similar way.

einstein said, "look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better".

profoundly true. i've come to learn this with anxiety in particular. a feeling so dreadful and apprehensive that would haunt me chronically was something i'd run away from. id see it approaching slowly, side-eye it vigilantly, and turn the other way kicking up the dust beneath my feet.

"you can go above, underneath, or around, but the best way is straight through it", is something i believe helen keller said (*i could be 100% wrong). so that's what i'm doing. going straight through it, letting the rip current whip and pull me out, because i know, i just know, it will always calm and release me.
