Train Rides

There's something kind of unifying when riding on an underground train through the island of manhattan. Squished between all walks of life. Sitting together, patiently waiting for the next stop. So close you can smell the person next to you, hear what's playing in their headphones, read the book they have open on their laps. It's definitely an experience if you haven't grown up around it. I used to hate it, get anxiety. I would choke up underground.

But, as with all anxiety, you have to go towards it, not away from it. And that's just what I did. I rode the train, twice a day, every day. Now it doesn't bother me one bit.

I even enjoy listening to the street performers sing in the car I'm riding in. Today it was "my girl".
