because people don't listen. Humans are programmed, from all the examples that I have been given, to be selfish. To look out for just themselves, and them only. And they don't listen. They don't care to have a full conversation about anyone else's interests except their own, to be an open ear, to congratulate the successes of others, to lend a helping hand. But the second something happens to them, they are the first to run in hysterics to everyone they know and request a pity party. Or, they take their anger out on the innocent that have nothing to do with their monotonous, pathetic lives.
Jealousy is also another sad factor in the demise and non-formation of friendships. I truly believe women, specifically, are jealous creatures. They rip out throats at sample sales for the last pair of Alexander Wang shoes and they show no less mercy in any other aspect of our lives. Dating. Relationships. Marriage. Opportunities. Money. Cars. Education. Jobs. Style. Location. Status. Talent. It's a silent sort of sabotage.
And lastly, no single quote rings truer, "don't tell anyone your problems. 80% don't care and 20% are glad you have them."
Maybe I'm being too pessimistic about the human race. but, in my short life, I have seen, heard, and been through quite a lot.
That's why I only have two good friends. Soul mates, rather. And I am absolutely, unequivocally fine with that.
